www.atmassagespa.usA cute little place with nice prices. I had Katie for a 1 hour full body massage and she did a great job. I will definitely ask for her again when I go back. I chose this place because they had same day availability. Seeing the comments about tipping and feeling pressured by staff made me a little uneasy about going. I did feel a little pressured during the massage when she asked me a few times if I wanted to go longer than an hour, but I get the hustle. I didn’t experience any rude staff and thought it was a friendly environment.
I used to love coming here several years ago for full body massages. My boyfriend found the foot massages to be incredible in relieving chronic fascia pain. We scheduled a couples massage around Christmas 2023 and never went back. The entire time we were being massaged there were howling, whining dogs seemingly in the basement. Then afterwards attempted guilt for a larger tip despite being visibly uncomfortable. The experience was incredibly strange and disappointing since we previously enjoyed their services.
This was a terrible experience. I was given a $100 gift certificate for a 90 minute massage for Christmas. I went in for the massage finally…. It’s September. I wanted to go sooner but i didn’t have a chance due to a number of reasons I won’t get into detail on. I arrive, show them the certificate. They point to writing at the bottom - there is something that i couldn’t read that supposedly said “only good first half year.” There was no expiration date, only the date it was purchased. I wish I had taken a photo of it. I am about to be in tears at this point because they are telling me my $100 Christmas present is no longer valid. This massage I was so looking forward to wouldn’t be happening. She says, we will charge you $40 instead of $100. I agreed, reluctantly, because at least I got the $60 toward it, which was better than nothing. I did add hot stones, and was told when she asked if I wanted it to help loosen the knots that it would be $10. Well at the end of the massage, I go to pay. She says, “ How much you going to tip?” I said, “Ten dollars? But don’t I add that to the receipt?” She said, “No. You tip 20%.” She pointed to a piece of paper another lady held up- it was not anywhere in sight, she got it from behind something on the counter. It said suggested tip 20%. I normally would tip around 20%, but because I am now paying $40 for what was supposed to be my present, I was going to go lower. So my total services were $110. They charged me $50 (massage & hot stones) and forced me to pay a $22 dollar tip, plus there is a charge for paying with a credit card. So I paid $75 today. So $175, if you include the gift certificate, for a 90 minute massage with hot stones. I think that is outrageous, especially under these circumstances. Instead of demanding a tip, they need to build that into their pricing. A tip is optional. If the certificate expires, it needs to say that clearly with the date it expires- not be a few words scribbled in illegible handwriting. Most massage gift certificates are valid for one year, and that was my expectation. I had no idea what to expect & it was very difficult for me to understand what they were saying most of the time. I didn’t understand her instructions & was unsure what exactly to do once I was in my room. There was no door on the room, just a curtain. You can hear everything going on- people’s phones ringing, the people at the counter, the restaurant next door. Other people getting massages. I yelped because I wasn’t ready for the sensation of hot stones & another person getting a massage yelled, “You ok???” The person who gave the massage definitely worked out some of my knots, but it was the most painful massage I’ve ever had. Her hands are very strong, which I guess is a good thing? She asked multiple times if I was ok, and I said it hurts, it’s sore… she said that my muscles were very tight, but didn’t change the pressure. I have no doubt that my muscles were very tight. It may actually help me, but I honestly am just so sore a couple hours after, it’s hard to tell. I might be tempted go back and give them a second chance if it does actually help with my tense muscles. I am very upset about them not honoring the gift certificate & then forcing a $22 dollar tip. Overall, I can’t recommend this place.
the massage was good, but a lot of tips were taken from my card without permission, I told them that I was giving $20 for two of us, there were two people, and they took $40. And these people are very arrogant for money, it’s not human because it’s my choice how much to tip and my money and they beg like homeless people on the street.
After reading reviews, I asked ahead of time what the price would be with tip. She said $70 and 20%. I paid $85 at the end, and you would have thought I spit in her face. I said thank you, and she stormed off. I waited till she came back out and asked what her name was, at which point she turned her back on me again and walked away cursing me out in Mandarin. Massage was 3 Stars, Service was 1 Star, so I'm averaging it out at 2. Disappointing, because I probably would have come back.
