nysangyuanbodyworks.comThis is a totally legitimate massage business and about 90% of the times my wife and I come here, we get excellent massages. I’ve been at least 15 times in the past two years for 2-hr massages. Most of the staff works incredibly hard the entire time. Some have better sensitivity toward knowing exactly what pressure to apply, but overall most are excellent. You have to understand when coming here that the $60/hour rate - which is unheard of in Manhattan at legitimate massage spas, is due to the low overhead. It’s in the basement of an apartment building. The patrons are separated either by curtains or walls that only go 80% of the way to the ceiling. In effect there is still adequate visual Privacy but you can hear others next door (though it’s still a pretty quiet place). So be forgiving of the locale in order to get impressive $60/hr massages (+tip). And just to note, this location is equally frequented by men and women so everyone is pretty consistently comfortable coming here.
Came here for the first time yesterday. 10/10! Everyone was kind and professional. I suffer from pretty bad lower back pain and left feeling like I was floating. Side note, I’m really big on scent and the whole place smelled like laundry detergent which is my favorite scent in the world. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Can’t wait to book my next service!
Best massage I've ever gotten. Every time we come to NYC, we never leave without getting at least 2 massages from this place. Legit the best massages EVER, no other place even comes close.
We got a couples massage here, and it was alright. We did 1 hour Swedish massages - the price is pretty good, and ended up being $110 + tip for the two of us. Definitely make sure to bring cash to pay just in case (their card machine wasn’t working at the time). Pros: - Pretty good prices, not too expensive - Small massage place, quiet and not noisy - Have a punch card (After 10 massages, the 11th is free) Cons: - Personally, I was not a huge fan of the space, you’re underground and there are not full walls between each room- the walls do not go to the ceiling, so any sound (someone talking or even a sneeze will be heard by everyone) - Ambiance could be better/more elevated - Prefer if you pay cash Overall, the massage was so-so. I wish I felt more ‘relaxed’ afterwards… There wasn’t really anything “wrong” per se - but I would probably try out another place next time I go for a massage.
I’ve been to this location multiple times before and had decent experiences. Unfortunately, this last visit was incredibly disappointing. The massage was rushed and lacked focus on the areas I specifically requested, even after expressing my concerns multiple times during the session. To make matters worse, the therapist applied painful pressure to areas I explicitly asked not to focus on, leaving me in more discomfort than when I arrived. Days later, I’m still dealing with pain in my neck caused by this experience. I even paid for additional time to address the areas I originally wanted focused on, but that, too, felt rushed and subpar. There was zero apology either, and honestly the front desk couldn’t care less. Can’t recommend this place anymore and won’t be coming back.
